Anvil Island #1
Acrylic on canvas, 2024
16 inches high x 12 inches wide
C$150
Anvil Island is located in Howe Sound, visible from Porteau Cove. The Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) Nation’s traditional name for the island is Lhaxwm.
Stephen Dancey’s paintings offer an abstract interpretation of the terrain of the Pacific Northwest, drawing inspiration from the coastal islands, mountains, and landscapes of western Canada. Starting with a natural landscape and transitioning into abstraction, his paintings invite viewers to connect with something familiar and recognizable before being drawn into the more abstract, textural, and tactile elements of his work.
This is an original acrylic painting on stretched canvas using professional grade artist paint. The paint surface is sealed with an archival varnish for long-term protection. Due to differences in screen displays, colours may vary slightly from the actual painting.
The painting is not framed and the size of the canvas is 12 x 16 inches (30.5 x 40.5 cm). The sides are 1.5 inches (4 cm) and painted black (see photo below). Painting is ready to hang, with D-ring hangers and coated picture wire on the back (see photo below).
